CH 11 Bridge over Spoon River

Hutchison Engineering, Inc. (HEI) was selected by Knox County to provide preliminary engineering and material testing services including the preparation of a project development report, plans, specification, estimates and nuclear density testing for the bridge replacement and roadway realignment on CH 11. This 0.4 mile project consisted of removing and replacing the 3 span bridge over the Spoon River and realigning CH 11 to improve geometrics. The new 218' long structure included steel H-piles, 2 piers, 2 abutments and PPC deck beams. Due to the consistent high levels of the river, pier construction required the use of cofferdams. Construction of this $1.55 million project was completed in 2017.
