Wabash Ave Reconstruction

Hutchison Engineering, Inc. (HEI) was selected by the Illinois Department of Transportation - District 6 to provide design engineering services to expand this complex three mile three-lane urban section to a five-lane urban section with shoulders to accommodate bicycle lanes. The project included drainage design, storm sewers, widening and resurfacing, sidewalks, stage construction and associated work. Drainage and access proved to be challenging due to limited available right-of-way on this commercially developed arterial. Construction of this $25.6 million project was completed in 2017.
